This is derived from NRCD 241 of 1974. The mandate enjoins the Council to:

• Oversee as well as Coordinate and Support Youth Activities.
• Harness the potentials of the youth including the disadvantaged for gainful and sustainable livelihood programmes / projects.
• Organize programmes that offer young people opportunities for the productive use of their leisure and recreation
• To promote a sense of friendship between the youth of Ghana and those of Africa and the World as a whole.

Vision

To become a unique public sector youth development service organization responsive to the empowerment needs of the Ghanaian youth ensuring their access to national development investment opportunities.

Mission

We exist to provide the relevant and conducive environment that defines and supports the implementation of effective frontline youth empowerment practices focusing on young people’s participation in socio-economic and political development whilst facilitating private and third sector provider investments in youth empowerment.
