The Ministry of Youth and Sports is responsible for effective development of youth and sports in Ghana. In this endeavor it initiates and formulates policies and programmes and supervises and monitors their implementation. It has as its mission: “The creation of an enabling environment for effective youth and sports development through policy formulation, co-ordination, monitoring and evaluation and the facilitation of the provision of facilities.”

Deriving from the above mission statement, the Ministry of Youth and Sports envisions to enhance the national consciousness of the youth through effective mobilisation, education and training. It also envisions a sustained and systematic development and promotion of approved and recognised sports at both national and international levels to foster friendship with the world community of nations.
