The Ministry, now known officially as the Ministry of Youth and Sports, has undergone many changes with varied names, and has often been appendages of other ministries in its split form or as a whole since 1978 under Mr. E. K. Dwomoh as Commissioner for Sports. In all there have been 17 appointees to head the Ministry under various designations from the period 1978 to 2009. Other responsibilities that have been adjoined with sports and/or youth as a Ministry have been at different times the portfolios for education and culture, whilst sport or youth has also at times been the appendage of the Ministry of Education, or the Ministry of Manpower and Employment.Past Office Holders
