Welcome to the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Ghana
"We cannot always build the future for our youth, but we can build our youth for the future." The Centre for Human Development & Social Change-Ghana,(CHDSCGhana) a development and human rights non-profit in Ghana in association with a number of governmental and non-governmental organisations is coordinating a number of major events by its Youth Clubs across the country to commemorate the 2009 Global Youth Service Day in Ghana.
The Minister of Youth and Sports, Alhaji Moahmmed Muntaka Mubarak, says reports that he has problems with the Ghana Football Association are false. According to him, he has met with officials of the GFA more than any other agency under the ministry and each time, they reach compromises without rancour. The Minister of Youth and Sports, Alhaji Moahmmed Muntaka Mubarak, has said there are too many ghost names on the payroll of the National Youth Employment Programme. He said although the roll indicated there were 62,000 people under the programme, a careful look at the actual numbers showed the number of employees was far less. Alhaji Mubarak Mohamed Muntaka, Minister for Youth and Sports yesterday opened a three day seminar on National Talent Identification at the Ohene Djan Stadium, Accra. The removal of the former Member of Parliament for Techiman South forms part of Government’s action after studying the report and recommendations of the five-member committee set-up to investigate circumstances following the incidents during a league match between Kumasi Asante Kotoko and Accra Hearts of Oak on February 8 at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi. Four persons lost their lives and over 400 persons sustained various degrees of injuries due to overcrowding at the 40,000-capacity stadium. Pieces of information gathered by The Statesman at the camp of the Senior National Team, the Black Stars prior to their world cup qualifier match against Benin indicates that there was a serious confrontation and verbal attack between some of the senior players, particularly Sulley Ali Muntari and the Minister of Youth and Sports, Montakar Mubarak Mohammed over remuneration for the stars.
